"Hurricane Dave" Buchholz
Keyboards, Guitars, Lead and backup Vocals.

Years playing:   19 off and on

Current Gear:

Keyboards: On top is my Yamaha PSR1500 It is still my
workhorse providing most non-organ sounds, has great piano
and brass sounds. Below is a Roland VK7 organ to create those
great 60’s and 70's sounds. It's become a big part of our
arrangements.

My first guitar was a 12 string guitar, and I've always had one
since. Currently it's a Charvelle-Jackson model, beautifully inlaid
with Abalone, with a cutaway bout to get to the upper frets.  We'll
play a few songs like “Love the One You’re With” in alternative
tunings that let the 12 string really ring out. My six string is a
relatively rare original 1974 Ovation Deacon Solid Body model.
When it is flipped over, it reminds of a mid-evil boarding axe.

I'm running everything at this point through a 12 channel Peavey
stereo mixer and I split Peavey speakers on both sides of the
stage for maximum stereo Leslie effects.  This setup is half the
weight of what I used to haul around.

Previous playing experiences:
From forth grade though college, I played Tuba, then. Contra
Bass Horn in the USAF Drum & Bugle Corp, I picked up a Bass
guitar then my first 12 string after I got tired of playing one note
at a time on bass. Past Rock Bands Barkus
(Buffalo) and Reunion (Auburn) and with a solo career more
recently in Rochester as "Hurricane Dave" around the river, bay
Finger Lakes and Bahama Breeze.

Oddly, when CoMoTioN started out I never foresaw playing
keyboards to the degree that I am. I was anticipating 75 % guitar,
but it worked out to be nearly 90% keyboards instead.  Being
more diversified, it helped us to develop "our" sound as being
highly diversified. We can play anything we set out minds to.

Philosophy:
Most of all, HAVE FUN. Enjoy the moment, the songs, the crowd.
Capture the essence and energy of the song, but find a way to
make it your own. Keep a balanced perspective on music and
life, and never turn down free beer.
